Therapy for Teens and Adults in New Jersey
Specializing in the treatment of eating disorders, mood disorders, anxiety, and managing life transitions.
Specializing in the treatment of eating disorders, mood disorders, anxiety, and managing life transitions.
I am a licensed psychotherapist with extensive experience working with adults and adolescents who struggle with eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and other issues that interfere with them having the quality of life they desire and deserve.
I received my Bachelors of Science in Biobehavioral Health from Penn State University and a Masters degree in Social Work from Rutgers University.
My passion for working with those with eating disorders began while working as an intern at the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) as an undergraduate. My clinical background includes working with individuals at the partial hospital and intensive outpatient levels of care in a Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) based program. Here, I worked with individuals struggling with a wide variety of mental health issues, including mood disorders, anxiety, PTSD, self-harm, suicidal ideation, substance use, and eating disorders.
I also have experience working with adults and adolescents who struggle with eating disorders at the residential level of care.
My goal is to help you live the life that you desire, and quite frankly, that you deserve!
I aim to help you understand yourself better while providing you with the tools that you need to cope with life's stressors, and to live a life free from behaviors with which you may be struggling.
I specialize in the treatment of eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders. However, if you find yourself struggling with many of the day-to-day challenges, transitions, and pressures of life, I can also assist you in working through, and coping with, those issues.
I would describe myself as non-judgemental, compassionate, and down to earth. I value being my authentic self with my clients, as I believe this helps to create a better therapeutic relationship. During our sessions, you may find yourself laughing at times and being challenged other times, but you will always have my unwavering support.
Eating disorders are complex and require a properly trained professional with the right experience to treat. My approach to eating disorders goes beyond simply looking at food and weight. I utilize various evidence based techniques including, but not limited to, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), compassion focused therapy, and mindfulness based techniques.
I can provide therapeutic meal sessions to individuals and families to help address eating disorder behaviors in the moment. I will also work closely with other valued members of your care team.
I am a Health at Every Size (HAES) informed therapist and firmly believe in intuitive eating principles.
Depression can be such an isolating experience. You may find yourself feeling hopeless and helpless. Or perhaps you are noticing frequent shifts in your mood and it feels hard to keep up and manage. Together, we will work to understand your mood patterns and I will teach you the tools that you need to know in order to regulate your mood.
Anxiety can leave you feeling overwhelmed and stressed. It can leave you avoiding or giving up activities that you once really valued. Perhaps you find you can't stop worrying about certain things and tend to replay things in your head over and over again. Maybe you're even experiencing physical symptoms of anxiety, such as panic attacks. I will help you come to an understanding of what is underlying your anxiety while teaching you concrete coping strategies necessary to manage these overwhelming symptoms.
Perhaps you aren't entirely sure what you are experiencing. Maybe you just know that you are feeling stressed and are having difficulty handling certain events or transitions in your daily life. Maybe it's conflict in a relationship, work stress, or starting college. Whatever it is, you don't have to walk through it alone.
